Sauce Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour Substitute with gluten-free flour if needed.
  • 2 cups milk Use almond milk for a dairy-free option.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Black food coloring (optional) For a spooky look.

Decoration

  • Plastic spiders For decoration.

Preparation

  • Start by measuring out all your ingredients to make the cooking process smooth.

Cooking the Pasta

  • Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Making the Cheese Sauce

  • In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add the flour and mix to form a roux, cooking for 1-2 minutes until it becomes lightly golden.
  • Slowly whisk in the milk, cooking until the mixture thickens.
  • Stir in the shredded cheese until melted and creamy.
  • If desired, add black food coloring and mix well.

Combining

  • Add the drained macaroni to the cheese sauce and mix until well coated.

Serving

  • Transfer to a serving dish and decorate with plastic spiders.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!
