  • 1 sheet sheet of puff pastry Thaw if frozen
  • ½ cup Nutella Chocolate hazelnut spread
  • 1 each egg For egg wash
  • to taste Powdered sugar For dusting before serving
  • 1 each Heart-shaped cookie cutter Optional for shaping

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly flour your work surface.

Rolling Out Pastry

  • Roll out the puff pastry on the floured surface until about 1/8 inch thick.

Cutting Shapes

  • Use the heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out heart shapes, placing half on a lined baking sheet.

Filling

  • Place about a teaspoon of Nutella in the center of each heart shape, being careful not to overfill.

Sealing Pastries

  • Brush egg wash along the edges of the heart shapes, then carefully place the remaining shapes on top and seal the edges.
  • Use a fork to crimp the edges for added security.

Baking

  • Brush the tops with egg wash before baking in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until puffed and golden.

Serving

  • Dust the warm pastries with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, use vegan puff pastry and dairy-free chocolate spread. Serve alongside fresh berries or ice cream for a delightful pairing.
