Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef Can substitute with ground turkey or plant-based meat.
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 2 cups beef broth Can substitute with vegetable or chicken broth.
  • 1 cup elbow macaroni Can use gluten-free macaroni.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • as needed grated cheese for topping Cheddar, mozzarella, or a cheese blend.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by gathering all your ingredients. Chop the onion and mince the garlic, making sure they’re ready for cooking.

Cooking

  • In a large pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Stir in the diced onion and minced garlic, cooking until the meat is no longer pink and the onions are softened, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  • Add the can of tomato sauce to the pot and stir to combine.
  • Pour in the beef broth and stir to mix all ingredients.
  • Add elbow macaroni and Italian seasoning. Season with salt and pepper according to your taste. Stir to combine.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low.
  • Cover the pot and let simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until macaroni is cooked and absorbs flavors.
  • Check the macaroni for doneness. If not cooked to your liking, simmer for a few more minutes.
  • Once cooked, remove from heat and serve hot, topped with grated cheese.
