  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds For added flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder Enhances the taste.
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder For color and flavor.
  • to taste Salt Season according to preference.

  • as needed Oil for frying Use a neutral oil with a high smoke point.

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients. Ensure your onions are thinly sliced and your green chilies are chopped.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine chickpea flour, rice flour, cumin seeds, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and salt.
  • Add the thinly sliced onions and chopped green chilies to the bowl, mixing until well coated.
  • Gradually add water to form a thick batter, ensuring it can coat the onions but is not too runny.
  • In a deep frying pan or skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Test if the oil is ready by dropping a small amount of batter into it.

Cooking

  • Drop spoonfuls of the onion mixture into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  • Cook until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  • Remove the fritters with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  • Serve hot with chutney or ketchup.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven for best results.
