  • 8 ounces orecchiette pasta
  • 1 pound Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • ¼ cup olive oil

  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients together. Measure out the orecchiette pasta, sausage, broccoli florets, garlic, and spices.
  • In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the orecchiette pasta and cook it according to the package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Reserve some pasta water, then drain the pasta.
  • In a large skillet, pour in the olive oil and heat it over medium heat.
  • Add the Italian sausage to the warm skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes until browned and fully cooked.
  • Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes to the skillet. Stir for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Add the broccoli florets and mix well. Cook for about 5 minutes until bright green and tender, adding a splash of pasta water if needed.
  • Add the drained orecchiette pasta to the skillet and toss everything together until the pasta is coated with the sausage and garlic sauce.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately topped with grated Parmesan cheese.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. For freezing, use a freezer-safe container for up to 2-3 months.
