  • ¼ cup of hot chocolate mix Your favorite brand
  • 2 large eggs For richness
  • ½ teaspoon of peppermint extract For that festive zing
  • 1 tablespoon of butter For cooking
  • Whipped cream For topping
  • Crushed peppermint candies For garnish

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients on the counter.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the milk, hot chocolate mix, eggs, and peppermint extract until fully combined.
  • Place a skillet over medium heat and add the butter. Allow it to melt and heat until bubbling.
  • Dip each slice of bread into the milk-chocolate-peppermint mixture, making sure to coat both sides thoroughly.
  • Place the coated bread slices into the skillet, cooking for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  • If your skillet looks dry, add more butter before placing additional slices.
  • Once all slices are cooked, stack them neatly on a plate.
  • Top with whipped cream and sprinkle crushed peppermint candies.

Notes

For a vegan version, substitute eggs with flax eggs and use non-dairy milk and vegan butter. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
