  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Substitutable with whole wheat or almond flour.
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts Optional for topping.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and tools including a mixing bowl, loaf pan, fork or potato masher, and measuring cup. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In the mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth with a few small lumps.
  • Pour the melted butter into the mashed bananas and stir until fully combined.
  • Sprinkle in the baking soda and a pinch of salt, then mix well.
  • Stir in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Gently fold in the all-purpose flour until just incorporated, being cautious not to overmix.
  • Grease a 4x8 inch loaf pan, pour in the banana bread batter, and smooth the top.
  • If desired, sprinkle the chopped walnuts on top.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
