  • 1 cup water chestnuts, chopped Provides crunch.
  • ¼ cup hoisin sauce Can use gluten-free for dietary restrictions.
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce Select gluten-free if necessary.
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar Adds tanginess.
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil Enhances flavor profile.
  • 1 head butter lettuce or iceberg lettuce For wrapping the filling.
  • to taste sliced green onions for garnish Optional garnish.

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and mince the garlic and ginger finely.
  • Chop the water chestnuts to add crunch to the mixture.

Cooking the Filling

  • Heat a small amount of oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add minced garlic and ginger, sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Add the ground chicken, breaking it apart, and cook until browned (about 5-7 minutes).
  • Add chopped water chestnuts, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil.
  • Stir everything together and cook for another 3-4 minutes until heated through.

Assembling the Wraps

  • Spoon the chicken mixture into each lettuce leaf.
  • Wrap as desired and garnish with sliced green onions.
  • Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. Reheat chicken mixture before serving.
