Ingredients
  

For the Dough

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can be substituted with gluten-free flour.
  • ½ cup butter, softened Can be replaced with a lighter spread or vegan butter.
  • ¼ cup cold water Add gradually to form dough.
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 large egg, beaten For egg wash.

For the Filling

  • 12 pieces mini sausages Can be replaced with vegetarian alternatives.

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
  • Add softened butter to the flour mixture and mix until crumbly.
  • Slowly incorporate cold water until a coherent dough forms. Avoid overworking.
  • Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 10 minutes.
  • Grease your baking sheet to prevent sticking.
  • Roll out the chilled dough to about 1/8 inch thickness.
  • Cut the rolled-out dough into 1-inch wide strips.
  • Weave the strips into a lattice pattern.
  • Wrap each mini sausage tightly with the woven dough.
  • Place the wrapped sausages onto the greased baking sheet and brush with the beaten egg.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for around 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

Serve with mustard or dipping sauces like ranch or barbecue. Can be customized with different sausages or spices.
