A comforting, savory pie that captures all the flavors of a cheeseburger — ground beef and onions in the base, cheddar cheese, and a fluffy milk-egg batter baked on top.

1cupwhole buttermilkor milk
1 Tbspsalted butterbutter, melted
½cupall-purpose flour
1 tspbaking powder

Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a 9-inch pie plate.
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and onions until the meat is browned and the onion is soft. Season with salt (and Worcestershire sauce, if using).
Drain any excess fat, then spread the meat mixture evenly into the pie plate.
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the beef layer.
In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, buttermilk, melted butter, flour, and baking powder until smooth.
Carefully pour the batter over the meat and cheese in the pie plate.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the pie cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm, with pickle slices and ketchup or burger sauce, if desired.

You can customize this pie by adding bacon to the meat layer, or using different cheeses like pepper jack for a spicier bite.
