  • 4 cups low-sodium chicken broth Vegetable broth can be used as a substitute.
  • 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger Fresh ginger preferred over ground ginger.
  • 2 cloves minced garlic Fresh garlic recommended.

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce Can substitute with tamari for gluten-free option.
  • 1 tsp sesame oil Can be replaced with olive oil.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and kitchen tools, including a large pot, measuring cups, and a stirring spoon.

Cooking

  • In a large pot, pour in the 4 cups of low-sodium chicken broth, then add the grated fresh ginger and minced garlic.
  • Place the pot on medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle boil, which should take about 5–7 minutes.
  • Once boiling, add the wontons to the pot and cook according to package instructions (typically around 3–5 minutes). They are ready when they float to the top.
  • Stir in the tablespoon of soy sauce and the teaspoon of sesame oil to elevate the soup’s flavor.
  • Turn off the heat and sprinkle the sliced green onions into the pot for added color and fresh taste.
  • Taste the soup and adjust saltiness with additional soy sauce if needed.
  • Ladle the hot soup into bowls and serve immediately.

Notes

Try adding seasonal vegetables like spinach or bok choy for a fresh twist. Enjoy with spring rolls, a light salad, or tea!
