Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and premeasure them.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, cream the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the creamed butter and sugar, alternating with the milk, mixing just until combined.
  • Gently fold in the fresh raspberries.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Baking

  • Place the cake in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  • Check for doneness with a toothpick inserted into the center; it should come out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
