For the Danish Pastry

  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 1 egg egg (for egg wash)
  • ½ cup fresh raspberries Can use frozen raspberries if thawed and drained
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar Optional for dusting

For the Cream Cheese Filling

  • 4 oz cream cheese Softened to room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Preparation

  • Gather all ingredients to streamline the process.
  • Ensure the cream cheese is softened and wash the raspberries gently.

Baking

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Roll out the puff pastry to about 1/8 inch thick on a floured surface.
  • Cut out heart shapes using a cookie cutter.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Place a dollop of cream cheese mixture in the center of each heart-shaped pastry and top with fresh raspberries.
  • Fold the edges of the heart pastry slightly inward to form a border.
  • Beat the egg to make an egg wash and brush over the pastries.
  • Place the pastries on a parchment-lined baking tray and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Let the pastries cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
