  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder Adds depth to the flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Must be softened, not melted.
  • 1 ½ cups sugar Coconut sugar can be used as an alternative.
  • 1 large egg Can substitute with flaxseed meal mixed with water for vegan option.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring Add more for a vibrant color.

Mix-Ins

  • 1 cup white chocolate chips Can substitute with different types of chocolate chips.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by gathering all your ingredients together. Ensure your butter is softened and your flour is measured accurately.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure the cookies bake evenly and thoroughly.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk them together until evenly blended.
  • In a separate large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until the mixture is light and creamy.
  • Add the egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring to the butter mixture, and beat until combined.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture into the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  • Gently fold in the white chocolate chips, distributing them evenly throughout the dough.

Baking

  • Using tablespoons, drop scoops of dough onto a prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the cookies are set around the edges but still soft in the center.
  • Once baked, remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack.

Notes

For longer storage, consider refrigerating; they can last up to a week. Freezing is an option as well. Ensure butter is softened to achieve the right texture.
