  • 2 cups blackberries Fresh blackberries for best flavor.
  • 1 cup lime juice Freshly squeezed is preferred, but bottled is acceptable.
  • 1 cup sugar Adjust sweetness to taste; honey or agave can be used as substitutes.
  • 4 cups water Use sparkling water for a fizzy version.

Preparation

  • Gather your blackberries, lime juice, sugar, and water, along with a blender and a fine mesh strainer.
  • In the blender, combine blackberries and lime juice, blending until smooth.
  • Strain the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer to remove seeds.
  • In a large pitcher, mix the strained blackberry-lime juice with sugar and water. Stir until sugar is fully dissolved.
  • Taste the limeade and adjust sweetness or lime flavor as desired.
  • Refrigerate the mixture for about 30 minutes to chill.
  • Serve over ice, garnished with fresh blackberries or a lime slice, if desired.

Notes

This limeade is best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator for 3-5 days. Serve it at summer barbecues, family gatherings, or as a refreshing treat any time.
