Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients before getting started to simplify the process.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1/2 cup of powdered sugar until smooth (about 2-3 minutes).
  • Add the vanilla extract to the creamed mixture and mix well.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the flour and salt; gradually blend this into the creamed mixture.
  • Stir in the chopped nuts until evenly distributed.
  • Shape small portions of dough into balls about 1 inch in diameter and place them on an ungreased baking sheet.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes until lightly golden.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before rolling them in the remaining powdered sugar.
  • Transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Best enjoyed fresh, but cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, refrigerate or freeze appropriately.
