  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed Ensure the milk is warm but not hot to activate the yeast.
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg Beaten.

Preparation

  • Gather all the ingredients.
  • Combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a large bowl. Stir gently and let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  • Add melted butter, salt, and beaten egg to the yeast mixture. Mix until well combined.
  • Gradually add flour while stirring until a dough starts forming.
  • Transfer dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Rising and Baking

  • Place kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  • Once risen, punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place in a greased loaf pan.
  • Cover and let the loaf rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bake the loaf for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.

Notes

For a dairy-free option, substitute with plant-based milk and coconut oil instead of butter. To enhance flavors, consider adding herbs or spices.
