Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Gather all ingredients and ensure the water is warm but not hot.
  • In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  • Add flour, melted butter, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough begins to form.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.

Cooking

  • Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  • In a large pot, bring 10 cups of water to a boil and add the baking soda.
  • Punch down the risen dough and divide it into small pieces. Roll into 1-inch thick ropes and cut into bite-sized pieces.
  • Boil pretzel bites in batches for about 30 seconds then place on a greased baking sheet, sprinkle with sea salt.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.

Making Cheese Dip

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine cheddar cheese, heavy cream, garlic powder, and salt. Stir until melted and smooth.
