Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 lb chicken wings Fresh or frozen, thawed
  • 1 tbsp olive oil For coating
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp baking powder Helps achieve crispy wings

Sauce Ingredients

  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup soy sauce Substitute with tamari for gluten-free
  • 3 tbsp barbecue sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Fresh for best flavor
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar Optional, adjusts sweetness
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar Adds tanginess

Instructions

Preparation

  • Begin by patting the chicken wings dry with paper towels.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the chicken wings with olive oil, sea salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and baking powder. Toss until each wing is evenly coated.
  • Set a wire rack over a foil-lined sheet pan. Arrange the seasoned wings on the rack, ensuring they are spaced out.
  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

Cooking

  • Bake the wings for 20 minutes.
  • After the first 20 minutes, carefully flip each wing to ensure even cooking and bake for an additional 20 to 25 minutes until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F and the skin is golden and crispy.
  • While the wings are baking, prepare the sauce by combining honey, soy sauce, barbecue sauce, minced garlic, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar in a small saucepan. Simmer over medium heat for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally until thick and glossy.
  • Once the wings are baked, transfer them to a large bowl. Pour most of the prepared sauce over the wings and gently toss until evenly coated.
  • Allow the coated wings to rest for about 3 minutes.
  • For an added sticky finish, place the coated wings back on the wire rack and broil for 1 to 3 minutes.

Notes

Pair with veggie sticks and dip, or serve with coleslaw and crispy fries. Adjust sauce ingredients for personal preference.
