Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled Use ripe strawberries for the best flavor.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar The sugar not only sweetens but also helps achieve the right texture.
  • 1 cup water This creates a syrup that balances the flavors.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice The acidity brightens the flavors and adds depth.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by hulling your fresh strawberries and ensure they are washed and dried.

Blending

  • In a food processor, blend the hulled strawberries until smooth.

Cooking

  • In a saucepan, combine the sugar and water over medium heat until the sugar dissolves, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Once dissolved, remove from heat and stir in the lemon juice.

Combining

  • Pour the strawberry puree into the syrup and mix thoroughly.

Chilling

  • Cool the mixture at room temperature before refrigerating for at least 1-2 hours.

Churning

  • Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions, typically 20-25 minutes.

Freezing

  • Transfer to a container and freeze for at least 2 hours to achieve a firm texture.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the freezer for best results. Consume within two weeks for optimal flavor and texture. You can refreeze if it starts melting but be aware this might alter the texture slightly.
