  • 1 teaspoon citric acid Optional, for a tangy kick.

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and ensure your cooking area is clean.
  • Lightly grease your silicone candy molds or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Cooking

  • In a medium saucepan, mix the flavored gelatin dessert mix, granulated sugar, water, and corn syrup. Stir well to combine.
  • Set the saucepan over medium heat. Stir continuously until the sugar dissolves completely.
  • Increase the heat to medium-high and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  • Insert your candy thermometer and monitor the temperature closely until it reaches 250°F (121°C).
  • If using citric acid, stir it in once the mixture reaches 250°F.
  • Carefully pour the hot candy mixture into your prepared molds, or spread it onto the lined baking sheet.
  • Allow the candy to cool at room temperature until fully firm (several hours).
  • Once set, remove the candies from the molds and dust lightly with powdered sugar or cornstarch.
  • If desired, decorate with sprinkles before they finish setting.

Storage

  • Transfer your finished candies to an airtight container and store them at room temperature.
  • Ensure they are kept away from humidity.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for freshness. Can freeze if necessary, but best enjoyed fresh.
