Preparation

  • Begin by gathering all your ingredients. Shred the cheddar cheese if you haven’t already, and bring your cream cheese to room temperature.

Cooking

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the cheddar cheese and cream cheese over medium heat. Stir gently as the cheeses begin to melt together.
  • Slowly pour in the milk while stirring continuously to prevent lumps from forming.
  • Mix in the salsa until thoroughly combined.
  • Add the chili powder, garlic powder, and onion powder, stirring for 1-2 minutes.
  • Allow the sauce to cook for another 3-5 minutes, stirring regularly.
  • Taste and add salt as needed, then transfer the sauce to a serving bowl while still warm.

Notes

Store any leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. When reheating, add a splash of milk to restore creaminess.
