  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar) Other cheese varieties like Monterey Jack can be used.
  • 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  • Prep your workspace and ingredients by gathering everything needed and measuring them out.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until browned, about 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  • Stir in the cream of mushroom soup and season with salt and pepper. Mix well.

Assembly

  • Prepare a greased 9x13 baking dish. Spoon the beef mixture into the bottom evenly.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheese over the beef mixture.
  • Arrange frozen tater tots evenly on top.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the casserole for 30-35 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
  • Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving hot.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days in the refrigerator. You can freeze the casserole for up to 3 months. For reheating, place in the oven at 350°F until heated through.
