Ingredients
  

Dry ingredients

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Wet ingredients & mix

  • ½ cup butter, softened or melted
  • ¼ cup light brown sugar packed
  • ½ cup white granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs, large
  • 1⅓ cups mashed ripe bananas
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Chocolate additions

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup white chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 175 °C (350 °F). Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan and optionally line with parchment.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a large bowl, cream butter and sugars until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then beat in mashed bananas and vanilla.
  • Stir the dry ingredient mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  • Fold in semi-sweet and white chocolate chips, reserving a few to sprinkle on top.
  • Pour batter into prepared loaf pan and smooth top. Sprinkle the reserved chips over top.
  • Bake for about 50 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean (or with a few moist crumbs).
  • Allow bread to cool in pan for 10 minutes, then remove and cool completely on a wire rack.
