For the Cupcake Base

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix This serves as the base for rich chocolate flavor.
  • Eggs (as per cake mix instructions) Eggs add moisture and help bind the cupcake.
  • Oil (as per cake mix instructions) Oil keeps the cupcakes moist.
  • Water (as per cake mix instructions) Water activates the cake mix.

For the Topping

  • 1 container chocolate frosting Use your favorite brand for a creamy topping.
  • 1 cup candy corn Used for the turkey's beak.
  • 1 cup M&M's or chocolate drops Use these for the turkey's eyes.
  • 4 sticks pretzel sticks Used for the turkey's tail.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to the temperature as instructed on the cake mix box.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, eggs, oil, and water according to the package instructions.
  • Blend until smooth.

Cooking

  • Line your cupcake pans with liners and pour the batter into each cup, filling them about two-thirds full.
  • Bake according to package instructions, approximately 18-22 minutes.
  • Check for doneness with a toothpick.
  • Allow cupcakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Decoration

  • Frost the cooled cupcakes with chocolate frosting generously.
  • Decorate each cupcake with two pieces of candy corn for the beak and M&M's or chocolate drops for the eyes.
  • Insert pretzel sticks into the frosting to create the turkey's tail.

Serve

  • Arrange the turkey cupcakes on a platter and enjoy!

Notes

Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature or refrigerate for longer. These cupcakes can be frozen for 2-3 months.
