Main Ingredients

  • 2 slices slices of your favorite bread Could use gluten-free bread as a substitute.
  • 4 ounces turkey breast, sliced Consider roasted vegetables or a plant-based protein as substitutes.
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard Can be substituted with yellow mustard, honey mustard, or mayonnaise.
  • 1 slice Swiss cheese Feel free to swap for cheddar, provolone, or vegan cheese.
  • 1 tablespoon butter Don’t skimp on butter for a golden finish.

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients. Slice your bread if not pre-sliced.
  • Spread the Dijon mustard evenly on one side of one slice of bread.
  • Layer the turkey breast slices on top of the mustard, followed by the Swiss cheese.
  • Place the second slice of bread on top to form a complete sandwich.
  • Butter the outer sides of the sandwich.

Cooking

  • Heat a skillet on medium heat.
  • Cook the sandwich for about 3-4 minutes until the bread is golden and crispy.
  • Flip the sandwich using a spatula and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the other side is crispy and the cheese has melted.

Notes

Great for casual lunches, picnics, or finger food at parties. Pair with sweet potato fries or a fresh salad. Store leftovers wrapped in aluminum foil in the fridge for 2-3 days. For freezing, do so before cooking.
