Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your cupcake pan with vibrant cupcake liners.
  • In a large bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and baking soda.
  • In another bowl, mix together the sugar, vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, vanilla extract, and white vinegar until well blended.
  • Gradually add the sifted dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until just combined.
  • Divide the batter into two bowls, leaving one plain and adding red gel food coloring to the second bowl.
