  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 cup milk room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt

For Decoration

  • Food coloring (red, green, etc.) for coloring the batter
  • Festive toppings (sprinkles, icing, candy canes) to decorate

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients in one place.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Line your cupcake tin with paper liners.

Mixing

  • In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture into the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.

Baking

  • Divide the batter into separate bowls and add food coloring as desired.
  • Spoon the colored batter into prepared cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.
  • Bake for 18-20 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cooling and Decorating

  • Let cupcakes cool in the tin for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  • Once cool, decorate with sprinkles, icing, and candy canes.

Notes
