  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Use quality extract for better flavor.
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • Colorful as needed sprinkles for decoration Add generously before baking.

Preparation

  • Gather all ingredients and ensure your butter is softened to room temperature.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar using a mixer until the mixture appears light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  • Beat in the large egg and vanilla extract into the butter-sugar mixture until well incorporated.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Turn the dough onto a floured surface and roll it out to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  • Using cookie cutters, cut the rolled-out dough into desired shapes and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Sprinkle colorful sprinkles on top of each cookie.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until lightly golden but still soft in the center.
  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. For longer preservation, freeze the biscuits after cooling. To enjoy later, thaw at room temperature or warm in the oven.
