  • 1 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs Can substitute with flaxseed meal for vegan
  • 1 cup milk Coconut or almond milk can be used for non-dairy
  • ½ cup vegetable oil Can substitute with melted coconut oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water Essential for moist texture

For Decorating

  • 1 batch Buttercream frosting Amount depends on decoration choice

Preparation

  • Gather all ingredients and preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour the heart-shaped cake pan.

Mixing

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.
  • Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes until well combined.
  • Carefully stir in the boiling water, noting that the batter will be thin.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan, distributing it evenly.
  • Bake for 30 to 35 minutes. Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick; it should come out clean.
  • Cool the cake in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then remove it from the pan and cool completely on a wire rack.

Decoration and Serving

  • Once cooled, frost the cake generously with buttercream frosting using your preferred decorating method.
