  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons) Ensure yeast is fresh for best results.
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup whole milk Can substitute with almond milk or oat milk.
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted Melted for easy mixing.
  • 1 large egg Room temperature for best results.

Filling Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup brown sugar Can adjust sweetness to taste.

Frosting Ingredients

  • ½ cup cream cheese, softened Can use a dairy-free alternative.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk for thinning frosting Add to get desired consistency.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients. Measure the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Ensure your butter is melted, and your egg is at room temperature.
  • In a small saucepan, gently heat the whole milk and melted butter until warm but not boiling. Pour this mixture into the bowl with the flour mixture and stir to combine.
  • Add the egg to the mixture and stir until smooth.
  • Gradually add the remaining flour to form a soft, sticky dough.
  • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead gently for about 5 minutes until it feels silky and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes or until doubled in size.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 12x18 inches on a floured surface.
  • Spread softened butter over the rolled-out dough.
  • Mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle this mixture evenly over the buttered dough.
  • Roll up the dough tightly starting from one long edge. Slice into 1-inch thick pieces.
  • Place sliced rolls in a greased baking dish, leaving space between each. Let them rise for an additional 15 minutes.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

Frosting

  • While the rolls are baking, beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
  • Drizzle the cream cheese frosting over warm rolls after baking.
