Ingredients

Instructions
Preparation
- Start by gathering all your ingredients and measuring them out as specified.
Baking
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a small bowl, stir together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
- In a larger bowl, cream together the softened unsalted butter and white sugar until smooth and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually blend the dry ingredient mixture into the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Using rounded teaspoonfuls, roll the dough into balls and place them onto ungreased cookie sheets.
- Flatten each ball of dough slightly and sprinkle with extra sugar before placing them in the oven.
- Bake the cookies for 8 to 10 minutes until light golden at the edges but still soft in the center.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer them to wire racks to cool completely.
Decoration
- Once cooled, decorate the cookies with royal icing, food coloring, and sprinkles.
Notes
To store, keep in an airtight container for up to a week. For freezing, separate with parchment paper and store in a freezer-safe container.
