Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and ensure the butter is softened.
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Mixing Dough

  • In a bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  • In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until fluffy.
  • Beat in the egg, vanilla, and almond extracts.
  • Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the butter mixture.

Shaping and Baking

  • Scoop out portions of dough, rolling them into balls, and place them on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Flatten each ball slightly using a moistened glass.
  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until edges are golden brown.

Cooling and Decorating

  • Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  • Once cooled, decorate with royal icing or fondant and add sprinkles.
