Preparation

  • Start by gathering all the ingredients for your Valentine’s Day Heart-Shaped Cookies. Make sure the butter is softened to room temperature for easier mixing and creaminess.

Cooking

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Beat in the egg, vanilla, and almond extract until smooth.
  • Gradually blend in the flour mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  • Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and roll out to about 1/4-inch thickness.
  • Using a heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out heart shapes and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
