Valentine’s Day Muddy Buddies
A delightful and customizable treat combining Chex cereal, candy melts, and festive M&M’s, perfect for Valentine’s Day celebrations.
Ingredients
Cereal Base
- 7 cups Chex cereal Divided into two bowls.
Candy Coatings
- 1 cup pink candy melts
- 1 cup red candy melts
- 2 teaspoons vegetable oil To help melt the candy.
Sugar Coating
- 1 cup powdered sugar Divided for coating.
Mix-ins
- 1 cup Valentine’s Day M&M’s For festive decoration.
- 2-4 tablespoons Valentine’s Day sprinkles For additional decoration.
Instructions
Preparation
- Measure out all ingredients, dividing Chex cereal into two separate bowls.
Cook the Base
- Melt pink candy melts with 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil in a microwave-safe bowl, using 30-second increments until fully melted and smooth.
Coat with Pink
- Pour melted pink candy melts over one bowl of Chex, folding gently until coated. Reheat if necessary.
Add Sugar
- Transfer coated Chex to a ziplock bag, add 1/2 cup powdered sugar, seal and shake vigorously.
Set Aside
- Spread pink-coated Chex on a wax paper-lined baking sheet and allow to cool.
Repeat with Red
- Repeat the melting and coating process with the red candy melts and the second bowl of Chex.
Let Set
- Allow both Chex mixtures to set for about 30 minutes.
Mix in M&M’s
- Combine both the pink and red Chex mixtures in a large bowl and gently fold in M&M's and sprinkles.
Enjoy!
- Serve in festive bowls or package in jars or bags as gifts.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks. Can be frozen in a freezer-safe bag.
